NeeDoh Care Guide
How to look after a NeeDoh using Schylling's own guidance: hand wash, air dry, store away from heat, and when to retire a damaged piece.
Updated
Wash only when needed
Schylling's FAQ says to hand wash a NeeDoh with mild soap and water when it is dirty or sticky (retrieved 2026-09-27). A clean, dry piece does not need washing. Skip the dishwasher and any hot water.
Dry it in the open air
After washing, let it air dry completely. Drying it near a heater or in a hot place is the opposite of what the use rules say, because NeeDoh should never be heated.
Dust a tacky surface lightly
If a washed and dried piece still feels tacky, the FAQ suggests dusting it with cornstarch or baby powder (retrieved 2026-09-27). Use a small amount; for how clear cubes differ, see the Nice Cube notes in our blog.
Store it away from heat
Keep NeeDoh away from heat, direct sun and hot cars. Heating, freezing and microwaving are all on the list of things never to do. A clean pouch keeps lint off the surface.
Know the normal quirks
Small air bubbles inside a Nice Cube are normal, and a piece that feels firm after sitting usually loosens when you warm it in your hands and knead it gently (retrieved 2026-09-27).
Retire a damaged piece
A punctured shell, or a fill that keeps feeling syrupy after you wash and dry it, means the piece is damaged. Stop using it, scrape up escaped fill and discard it, and clean any residue with a wet cloth and mild soap.
