How to Fix a Sticky NeeDoh

Fix a sticky NeeDoh in four steps: wash, air dry, dust lightly, and tell dirt from damage. Based on Schylling's FAQ.

Updated

1

Look at the shell first

Check the surface for a puncture or a wet, syrupy patch. If you find one, skip the rest of this guide: that piece is damaged, so stop using it and replace it.

2

Wash by hand

Use mild soap and water and rub the surface gently with your fingers (retrieved 2026-09-27). Dust, lint and hand oils are the usual causes of stickiness, and they come off with soap.

3

Let it air dry

Leave it to dry fully in the open air, away from heat. Do not speed it up with a hair dryer or heater.

4

Dust lightly if it is still tacky

If it still feels tacky after drying, the FAQ names cornstarch and baby powder as the options (retrieved 2026-09-27). Use a small amount and rub it in gently. If it stays sticky or syrupy, treat it as damaged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a NeeDoh get sticky?

Surface dust, lint and skin oils are the usual cause, and soap and water remove them.

Which powder can I use?

The FAQ names cornstarch and baby powder (retrieved 2026-09-27). We do not recommend others.

How do I tell dirt from damage?

Dirt washes off and stays off. A punctured shell or a fill that stays syrupy is damage.
